Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Shaun Fenwick the postie is competing in the Great North Run for the first time on the 18th of September 2011 in order to raise money for the North East charity USEFUL VISION (www.usefulvision.org.uk).
USEFUL VISION was set up in 2005 when Nick and Rebecca Wilson's son Ben lost his sight at the age of five whilst being treated for a brain tumour.
They found little help and support in finding activities to stimulate and entertain Ben and realised that other families with similar experiences would benefit from USEFUL VISION'S plans.
Sadly, Ben lost his battle against cancer in 2006 but the charity has gone from strength to strength. It now supports over 200 families across the North East, providing imaginative and educational activities for vision impaired children and their siblings of all ages whilst giving the whole family an enjoyable experience.
As a local charity (started in Riding Mill) it relies on the hard work and commitment of many volunteers to keep the charity ongoing.
This means that all of the money raised goes to the children and families in need.
Sponsorship will remain open well after the event for those who want to make sure Shaun completes the run! Hopeful target time of a sub 2 hour 5 minutes.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now. Many thanks for your great generosity and I'll do my best to do as well as I can. Cheers, Shaun.xx
