So why Guildford Samson Centre (Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Group () ?As most of you well know, five years ago Hilary, this fit, active, sporty young lady whom I had chosen to spend my life with was cruelly diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Hearing such a diagnosis from a neurologist hits harder than a runaway train at full speed but there it is, no hiding, no running away, just a thousand questions that so far remain unanswered.
As time passes one comes to terms with this unseen enemy but one also comes to learn we are not alone. There are around 100,000 sufferers in the . In the majority of cases MS affects mobility leaving those suffering from the disease requiring the aid of sticks, crutches and wheelchairs. For more information please visit www.mssociety.org.uk
During the past 12 months Hilary was introduced to The Samson Centre (Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Group (). This centre was opened in December 2005 and offers what I regard and believe to be one of the finest MS therapy centres one could hope and pray for. I ask you please to take a little time to visit their website www.samsoncentre.org.uk and to see for yourself the invaluable care, support, hope, and compassion that this centre offers to all their members and visitors. In Hilary’s own words “ I have got so much from the Samson Centre both physically, in the improvement in my mobility, emotionally, from a much better understanding of this disease I am dealing with and socially, by introducing me to a fabulous set of friends“
So, I hope I have answered the question “why Samson Centre ?”
Hilary ran the London Marathon herself in 2002 finishing in a very respectful 4 hours 15 minutes ! The pain I will undoubtedly endure during the London Marathon on 25 April can in no way compare with the suffering MS causes, so please please please help me in helping raise funds for The Samson Centre (Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Group ()
Thank you
Shaun.
