About the charity : Pattaya Orphanage Trust Pattaya Orphanage Trust
The Pattaya Orphanage Trust helps vulnerable and disadvantaged children in Thailand - abandoned, disabled, HIV+, tsunami survivors or street children. With your help, we provide a home, education and future for almost 1000 children, and reach out to thousands more through health and nutrition projects. - How it all started - Over 30 years ago a baby was left on the doorstep of a Catholic priest in Pattaya. Father Ray Brennan took this child in and with this single compassionate act the Pattaya Orphanage Trust was born. The Pattaya Orphanage Trust is now the main overseas supporter of the Father Ray Foundation, the Thai parent charity of our projects in Pattaya. We also support projects in Rayong and the south of Thailand, making us the largest UK charity focusing on Thailand. - The children - We aim to support the most needy children in Thailand: orphans, children with HIV and AIDS, street kids, children affected by the Tsunami, blind children, deaf children and disabled young people. Today, with the generosity of people like you, we provide a safe and loving home, including food, shelter, medical care and access to education, to over 1000 children. 2007 Marks BUPA's 60th Birthday and to acknowledge this, BUPA’s community connections team is sending 60 employees from around the world to Sarnelli House, located in Nong Khai, North East Thailand, to undertake a maintenance and regeneration project for the orphanage.

Sarnelli House is an orphanage which is home to 126 children who either live with HIV or Aids, or who have been orphaned by the disease. The orphanage is run by Reverend Michael Shae who has lost 140 adults to Aids within the last 10 years and has taken responsibility for the children that have been left behind.

The 60 members of staff will be travelling to the orphanage and will be completing a wide range of tasks from creating a games and play area for the children to helping build classroom facilities within the village. 

After a long application and interview process I have been fortunate enough to be chosen to partake in this project and am one of only five people from BUPA UK Membership in the UK who will travel to the orphanage to take part in the project.

 

In order to take part in the challenge I have agreed to raise a minimum of £1,000, all of which will be donated to the charity and will be matched by BUPA - but the aim is to NOT STOP THERE!!!

 

As part of my fundraising I have decided to request donations to give me a good base to move forward. Apart from donations I will also be holding a number of fundraing events in the coming months ranging from a wine and cheese evening to cake sales and a BIG Belated BUPA funday in August.

 It would be much appreciated by myself if you could donate anything at all as every little helps
