But that doesn’t mean that donations have to stop. Even though generosity and an eye for quality tat has exceeded my wildest nightmares, this website is still taking donations.
I would like to say thank you to all of you who have donated. I am really very grateful and I know it will make a massive difference to 'sane'. Special thanks must go to Andy for suggesting this charity event, and stopping me from backing out. I didn't know how I would feel once my hair was really cut off, but we had such a great night and have raised so much money I am ecstatic. If only my juggling hat still fitted everything would be perfect! I have a cold head, but now a warm heart, knowing how many great friends I have who have supported this event for such a worthy cause
Hopefully we will have some pictures of the night soon, including John the Bees angle grinder hairdressing- I bet they don't do that in Tony and Guy!
Sane is a charity which both raises awareness of mental health issues, and provides a telephone lifeline for people experiencing mental health difficulties and their carers. As mental health issues are often surrounded with ignorance and stigma, charities supporting these causes are often overlooked. Every £2 raised will pay for one phone call to the saneline to be answered by a trained volunteer. This will put an individual in touch with medical and legal information, details of local medical and complementary services and of course a listening human being.
As every year 3 out of every 10 of us is likely to experience mental health problems, I am sure everyone has some personal awareness of how difficult mental health problems can be. I have recently turned 24. 20% of all deaths of people aged 15-24 are through suicide. 80% of young men committing suicide had had no contact with their GP, Psychiatrist, of any other support agency in the 4 weeks before their death. Publicising a friendly helpline, and funding people to answer it really can make a difference to the lives of people we see everyday.
Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, and especially the Durham city jugglers

and my brilliant friends from London, Durham and Manchester!
Best wishes and thanks again,
Patrick
