Story
Less than a year after finishing chemotherapy for breast cancer, Shelagh Muir along with running partner Karla Webb, are taking on the Manchester marathon.
On April 6 Shelagh and Karla, will run the Manchester marathon to raise money for the Cancer Research UK ‘More Tomorrows campaign’ (www.moretomorrows.org) which aims to build new state of the art laboratories for the Manchester Cancer Research Centre (MCRC).
Keen runners, both Shelagh and Karla have completed two London marathons and were inspired to put their trainers on and pound the streets once more after both being personally affected by cancer.
Shelagh is running as a way to say thank you, for the excellent staff at Clatterbridge where she had her treatment, and to her family, friends and work collegues whose support and care made such a huge difference. Karla is running in memory of her friend, who died tragically at the age of 40 after a short battle with the disease.
