Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Between 30th July to 9th August 2009 I am going to be hiking in Kyrgyzstan. The hike is going to be cover 90 km (56 miles) over 5 walking days and will cross a 3600m (12000ft) pass. This is a daunting and exciting challenge for me but the main purpose is to raise funds for FOCUS.
Over the years I have followed reports of FOCUS projects with admiration. To me their work represents the best efforts of the Ismaili community and I am proud of this opportunity to support them with more than just warm feelings. My experience in 2008 as a volunteer in Afghanistan was a hard lesson in the difficulties of charity work in the field. This year I am contributing by raising money.
I am going to be paying my own costs for the trip (about GBP 1500); your donation will go to the charity and not to funding my adventure.
