Not bad considering the conditions (-5 outside and +1 for the water). There were 2800 finishers and further 600 or so that couldn't quite make it to the end keeping the marshals and medical staff very busy indeed. The course had been extended since last year which gave us a few surprises, but take nothing away from the bitterness of the water, we all suffered considerably and sight of the finish line was just a huge sense of relief. The first cup of tea barely touched our lips as we shivered so much it was impossible to control our hands. A quick change into warm dry clothing soon helped especially seeing the sight of others still competing. Hats off to everyone that competed that day - certainly not a walk in the park!!! The initial comments have been never again!!!! But I'm sure that won't be case, if anything, we'll find something else more exciting.......

As most you may know, a group of us from Ditchling take part in Tough Guy each year. This year we started the training with 9, but due to injuries we're down to a team of just 5, however despite our madness, we do this to raise money for Shine Theatre Trust, a local charity that provides drama and dance for all children regardless of their abilities - a truly wonderful cause, especially as Sophie thrives so much from the rehearsals and performances.
Check out www.toughguy.co.uk, it gives you an indication of what we get up to. Basically a cross country run followed by an obstacle course called the "Killing Fields", where we climb, crawl, swim, jump or do what ever necessary to complete each challenge, and combine that with the cold conditions, fire, smoke, underwater tunnels and electrocution I can assure you it's not for the faint hearted.
This takes place on Sunday 1st February 2009 on a farm in Staffordshire - It will be on TV so look out for us....
