Story

On the 14th February 2011 my fiancée and best friend Siobhan (Shiv) Cavanagh sadly passed away after a year long battle against Leukaemia. Shiv touched the lives of everyone she met, and left behind not only myself but also her two children Charlie and Lewis, and many friends and her loving family.

In memory of Siobhan, our close friend Lee Rogers wanted to do something special to raise money. After a few cans of Stella 4 and a Domino's Pepperoni Passion, we decided on a cycle ride between the hospital in Beverley where Shiv was born and the hospital in Blackpool where Shiv passed.

After drafting in my cousin Norman as the final member of Team Shiv, and appointing Shiv's car cleaning brother Jonathan as Team Support, we decided we would depart Westwood Hospital at 09:15 on the 20th July 2011, Shiv's birthday, and after 190 miles of cycling we should arrive battered and bruised at Victoria Hospital 2 days later on the 22nd July. The route we will be taking can be seen within the photos to the left.

We hope that for the last 25 miles of the ride we will be joined a number of friends and family and if you would like join us then please send one of us a message on either facebook or on twitter with the #BeverleyToBlackpool tag.

All funds raised will be donated to the Haematology Ward at the Hospital via the Hospital's Blue Skies Fund. Shiv spent many months on the ward, and by raising money for the ward we can hopefully help to ensure that future patients receive the same high standard of care.

Please give deep and look out for our training videos over the next couple of months. Also if you have facebook please can you click the like button on this page and those of you who like to Tweet on Twitter could you use the Tweet button to tell your followers.

Cheers

Bonty, Lee and Norm
