Easy access to water is something many of us take
for granted. We are the lucky ones – water, that most basic necessity, is still
a luxury in some parts of the world
Showerail.com supports Pump Aid. They build water pumps,
called
Elephant Pumps,
that can be maintained by poor rural communities without any assistance.
An Elephant Pump cost £500 for materials and
to install. 250 people can be provided with 40L of clean water each,
everyday. (think about it next time you turn on that power shower ! )
Currently around 80 Elephant Pumps are built each
month, that result in 20,000 people in Africa benefiting from access to clean
water.
