In October 2017, I’m hiking up Kilimanjaro for Macmillan Cancer Support.
This is the biggest challenge I've ever undertaken and could not be more excited about the challenge ahead of me (if a little nervous about altitude sickness). Turns out summit day is also my 33rd birthday, so instead of a card perhaps donate a few pounds instead!
It's important to note that I will be will be donating £1,800 of the total £4,550 myself (this covers the cost of the trip), so that every penny donated will go towards Macmillan and the great work they do.
I will also be organising charity raffles, events and signing up to other challenges to raise money for Macmillan, keep an eye out, all support where possible is greatly appreciated!
Mount Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in Africa at 19,341 feet. This will push me to the limits on an unforgettable challenge to tackle the highest free-standing mountain in the world. Following the 7 day Machamé route, which allows plenty of time for acclimatisation, we trek through rainforest and alpine meadows before heading above the clouds across a barren lunar landscape to the spectacular snow-capped summit.
This challenge is part of Greene King’s fundraising campaign, Miles for Macmillan, the aim is to clock up enough miles to get to the moon! From sponsored cycle rides and marathons to mountain climbing and swimming, the challenge of reaching a quarter of a million miles – all in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
