On 8 August 2009, my Auntie, Marina Charalambous, lost her courageous and dignified battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 60.

In her honour, and others faced with this terrible disease, i will be donning my running shoes and supporting the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund (PCRF) by taking part in the 2009 New York Marathon.

Each year, around 7,700 people in the UK are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Because of the poor prognosis, the number of deaths from pancreatic cancer closely reflects the number of people diagnosed.

Pancreatic cancer is the fifth most common cause of cancer death in the UK, and has the lowest survival rate of all cancers.

The PCRF is dedicated to increasing the amount of research for pancreatic cancer. By donating and bringing new money and focus to the field, you can help support innovative research with the potential to advance pancreatic cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it's the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now!

Thank you all in advance for your very generous donations!!
