Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
As many of you know, I am taking part in a charity bike ride through eastern France from 3rd to 5th October 2008. In summary it's 485 miles from Arras to Riquewihr in Alsace in teams of 4 (so I "only" have to cover a quarter of the distance - apologies to those who would prefer me to do the lot!). I understand over 60 teams have entered, so it is quite an event.
Half of the money raised from the event will go to Cancer Research UK and Wessex Heartbeat. The other half can go to a charity of the participant's choice, and in my case it will be Julia's House in Broadstone. Julia's House is Dorset's only hospice dedicated to children with life-limiting conditions. The majority of the children that we care for are unlikely to live beyond the age of 18. Julia's House receives approximately three per cent of its funding from the Government. The remainder of its income is raised by the Dorset community. It will cost £1.9m to provide our vital services in 2008.
