27/06/2006 *** JORDAN CANCELLED ***
Yet another trek has been cancelled due to lack of people signing up. Unfortuntely most of these treks require at least 10 people to make them happen and they just don't want to do any that i've chosen (perhaps I should change my aftershave!). It seems as though most people are only interested in doing the more known treks such as Everest Base Camp, The Inca Trail and Kilamanjaro.
I have decided its now probably best to hold back until next year and either do one of the above or see if any new treks take place.
Thanks for all your support.
Simon
Ps. For those of you who have already sponsored me, your sponsorship has gone directly to Cancer Research UK through this website, don't worry none of the money touches my bank account!
30/04/2006 *** UPDATE - NEW TREK ***
It looks as though a new trek may now be under way, I am just waiting to receive my deposit back from Charity Challenge and then I will register for the new Jordan to Petra trek through Discover Adventure. More info once its all been confirmed.
18/04/2006 *** HIMALAYAN MOUNTAIN TREK CANCELLED ***
We now have confirmation that the Himalayan trek has been cancelled due to the organisers not being able to get enough people together. Further bad news means that it's unlikely the Mexico Jungle trek will go ahead either for the same reasons.
I'm very disapointed with the organisers but I guess its not their fault. I am still going to look for a trek that will be just as challenging but this may mean I have to switch to a different organiser or not be able to do the trip until next year.
Thanks to everyone who's sponsored me. Keep watching this space for further info...
14/04/2006 *** IMPORTANT NEWS ***
Although unconfirmed it looks like the Himalayan Mountain trek may be cancelled due to lack of people taking part in the challenge. This is sad news but I do have a backup plan!
All being well I plan to do the Mexican Jungle Challenge. This involves again trekking at altitude (higher than the Himalayan Trek) and also rafting much of the trail. The total length is around 150 miles so it will be very hard work, especially in the humidity of the rainforest and the extra support from the local bug population.

Thank you for visiting my sponsorship page. In October 2006 I will be partaking in a 10 day trek through the Nepalese Himalayas. I hope the trip will be both rewarding and awe inspiring but it will also be lot of hard work and require plenty of preparation. I will be trekking through an area that has a lot of Maoist rebel activity (although to date no tourist has been harmed), at altitude for 5 - 7 hours a day.
Although this is a personal challenge, one of the main reasons i'm doing this is to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. Cancer is a common disease – more than one in three of us in the UK will develop cancer at some point in our lives but thanks to advances in cancer research, thousands of people who wouldn't have survived cancer 10 years ago are still here today.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Thanks,
Simon
