Hi Everyone

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

It all began in late December ' 06 when I decided that it was time to take on a personal challenge, and equally to try & support MacMillan with raising as much money as possible for such a great cause.

I have not taken on such a challenge before and can fairly say I'm not sure whether I'm more affraid of raising the target of £1200 or the cycling

The Challenge in summary:

Between 8th - 12th July 2007, I will be joining around 80 people cycling from London to Paris as part of Macmillan Cancer Support's London - Paris Cycling Challenge. I will be cycling for 4 consecutive days covering just over 400km.

It promises to be an extremely testing physical challenge, cycling over undulating countryside and in all weathers. The event, and the months of preparation and training, will be tough but I am doing this in order to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support (ref charity no 261017).

Why? sorry to state the obvious but it did surprise me to learn:

Each and every day 739 people in the UK are told they have cancer. More than one million people in the UK today have had a cancer diagnosis, and more than one in three will be diagnosed at some time in their life. As well as taking action today to support people from the moment they suspect they have cancer, Macmillan are shaping the future of cancer care. Their increasing range of services, including Macmillan nurses, doctors and other health and social care proffessionals, cancer care centres, a range of cancer information, practical help at home and help with money, is funded entirely through the generosity of their supporters. Thanks to the support they receive, Macmillan provides the practical and emotional support which makes a real difference to people living with cancer today and tomorrow.

I know that if I can raise plenty of money I will certainly be spurred on to the finish line, despite it being 400km away!

Please dig deep and sponsor me online : I have pledged to raise at least £1200.

However I hope to raise much more and help support some of the 700 people a day who are diagnosed with cancer!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Macmillan Cancer Support will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now! all you have to is click on the sponsor me now button and follow the instructions!

Many thanks for your support.

Simon
