My story

My fundraising challenge is the Marathon des Sables, an ultra marathon that is the equivalent of 6 regular marathons in 6 days - across the Sahara Desert, in temperatures often exceeding 120 degress Fahrenheit, carrying just about everything that will be needed whilst facing sandstorms and avoiding getting lost!

The challenge is an extreme one and personally driven by a desire to raise as much money as I can for Cancer Research UK.  This desire is driven by many factors: I have recently witnessed my mother survive cheerfully and positively a mastectomy. I am also more than conscious of the need for yet more progress in the fight against cancer and only too aware of the extended damage that it does to families having seen many friends and aquaintances touched directly and indirectly by the disease.

Many thanks for your support.

Simon
