Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Princess Alice Hospice will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
The Princess Alice Hospice provides care and support to cancer patients and their families. Having seen my mother benefit from this care in early 2006, I feel it is time to pay the hospice back through sweat and funding. I have matched the first £2,500 donated.
Stage 1 of preparation complete. 5 months of training, shin splints and physio led to the Reading 1/2 marathon, which was 'fun'.
Stage 2 now done. A delightful 16m riverside race around Kingston and Surbiton was fine. Worryingly, I quite enjoyed it.
Stage 3: The small matter of 26.2 miles around London on April 13th. Done in 3h55m. I was on for my 3:50 target at half-way, but the last 6 miles were a tad tougher than expected; I was overtaken by Scooby Doo and the fella in a black g-string. The crowds were better than you can imagine. A great day. That said, I've "ticked the box", and will never do it again!
Stage 4: Drink! The Telegraph, just off Moorgate, Thurs 17th April from 5pm. My shout.
Thanks loads for any support.
