The newly combined A Rocha Eco-Congregation team need your help. We have a fund raising mountain to climb to help all the churches who want to take better care of creation.

David and Simon climbed the 3 peaks of Yorkshire in 10.5 hours on Friday, 16th September.  Pen-y-Gent, Ingleborough and Whernside are a well known hill walking challenge in North Yorkshire.  We had a lovely day, except we didn't see a single peak as they were all covered in cloud, though the path led us straight to the trig point, except on the last one, Ingleborough, which is a large plateau of bare rock.  In the thick mist David and I found ourselves heading towards a number of barely visible cairns only to find they were not what we sought.  Eventually found the right spot, but then had to grope our way back to the trail down.  Even more disconcerting was that we had passed 20 other people on the way up, but saw none of them on the way down - no idea what happened to them!  The rain held off until 10 minutes before the end at which point we became soaked.

Even though we have completed the walk we would love it if you were able to sponsor us retrospectively.  We are raising money for A Rocha UK's Eco-congregation. It's a project that aims to provide churches in England and Wales resources to begin to engage in environmental issues as a congregation. With over 5 million people attending church in England and Wales, if everyone got on board, this would make a huge difference in our communities and environment. All proceeds will go towards updating the resources for churches which were written 10 years ago -- and a lot has changed since then!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
