We are raising money for Leukaemia Research by taking part in the Weston Beach Race on October 12 this year (for more info on the Beach Race, please visit www.wbruk.com) 

We are all riding in Memory of Mel, and this is why:

In May 2007, Simons' cousin Mel was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.  She underwent several courses of intense chemotherapy, and radiotherapy which sadly had little effect on the horrible disease that was attacking her blood cells.  She then underwent a stem cell transplant, followed by more chemo and radio therapy, and it was looking positive, the transplant seemed to have worked and follow up treatments were going ok.  Sadly, just 8 months aftre the original diagnosis, Mel passed away after catching pneumonia and her body not having the strength to fight any more.
