In memory of our precious darling baby boy
CIARAN ANTHONY SHANLEY
16 May 2009
An angel in the book of life
wrote down our baby's birth
and whispered as she closed the book
"to beautiful for earth".
Today, 16th May 2010 ......
......... is your 1st birthday our precious darling baby boy Ciaran. We love you so much and can't believe it's a year since you've been gone. You are our little Angel watching over us. You will never be forgotten!

Today, 19th September 2009 ......
…….. was your due date our special precious Angel son.
Thinking of you always darling Ciaran. Love you forever xx
Siobhan & Kevin would like to thank all our family and friends for their help over the last few months. With their love and support, things are getting a bit easier day by day. We thank you wholeheartedly for all your donations for Surrey Sands to date, which has amounted to early £1200 in Ciaran's memory. Ciaran's page is still open for some time yet and we'd like to try and raise as much money as we can for this very worthwhile charity.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts xx

Siobhan & Kevin would like to thank all our family and friends for their prayers and for giving us such great love and support at this sad time. Our darling son Ciaran was born too soon at 22 weeks on 16 May 2009 and lived for 1 hour, 52 mins. In Ciaran’s memory, we will be donating money to SANDS (still birth & neonatal death) charity, with particular gratitude to the East Surrey Hospital, Redhill.
Every day in the UK 17 babies die through stillbirth or neo-natal death, that is 6,500 per year.
Sands are a national self help organisation and registered charity, established to support the parents of babies who have died during pregnancy or soon after birth. They are all volunteers and also sadly, bereaved parents themselves.
The charity is divided into a network of local groups of which Surrey Sands is one. Kevin and I are very grateful for the facilities and the caring support received at East Surrey Hospital, Redhill and the use of the “Sands Room”, which gave us the time and space to grieve, comfort each other and the opportunity to discuss some very difficult decisions in the first few days following Ciaran’s death.
Any money donated will assist with the creation of new rooms within hospitals in the Surrey area and enable Sands to maintain their current available facilities, literature and provide ongoing training of befrienders, midwives and chaplaincy team, all of which we found invaluable.

The Gift Aid element will be retained by National Sands to support their 3 core aims:
To Support anyone affected by the death of a baby; To work in partnership with health professionals to improve the quality of care and services offered to bereaved families; and To promote research and changes in practice that could help to reduce the loss of babies' lives
Siobhan & Kevin xx
The world may never notice
If a Snowdrop doesn't bloom,
Or even pause to wonder
If the petals fall too soon.
But every life that ever forms,
Or ever comes to be,
Touches the world in some small way
For all eternity.
The little one we longed for
Was swiftly here and gone.
But the love that was then planted
Is a light that still shines on.
And though our arms are empty,
Our hearts know what to do.
Every beating of our hearts
Says that we love you.
Anon.
