In September 2008 I am skateboarding down Japan's highest mountain, Mount Fuji, to raise vital funds for the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths (FSID). The 17 mile descent down Mount Fuji drops almost 5,000 feet in altitude.
Why?
Every year 300 apparently healthy babies die suddenly and unexpectedly in the UK. If the same number of people were involved annually in a fatal plane or train crash there would be outrage and investigations.
My brother tragically died of cot death on the 22nd April 1980. Cot death is the leading kind of death in babies over one month old – claiming more lives than meningitis, leukaemia, other forms of cancer, household and road traffic accidents put together.

UPDATE:
So I did the skate at about 5.30 am on Thursday 25 September 2008. It was so much fun and a proper adventure just getting there to do it! It took about an hour to get down Mount Fuji but it seemed like it took hardly any time at all.
