Hi everyone!
After the rafting, thought I'd have another stab at raising money for Momentum by dressing up as santa and ridiculousing myself down breaehead Xscape 20 times to make it 5k! I have two hours in which to complete this challenge.. and at this stage I am pretty sure I have managed to rope in Jamie (my male counterpart) to do this with me... so that's a donable achievment in and of itself!
For those of you who don't know.. Momentum is the charity that I work for. My particular branch (Momentum Pathways, Aberdeen) deals with people who have sustained brain injuries (ie. stroke, road accidents, aneurisms, tumours etc.) We run group sessions monday to thursday on a range of different things. My side of things is the cognitive stuff, so memory, problem solving, processing speed, attention & concentration, planning and organising and also anger, stress and anxiety management. My coworkers do stuff on confidence building assertiveness, creativity, IT qualifications and skills to get a job/into further education (i.e. interviews, CV building etc.). Then we get them out on placements initially, and then hopefully paid work or proper courses after that!
Momentum in general support people with a whole range of disabilities in different services throughout scotland to get back into employment/further education etc. We are also in the rest of the UK, but under the guise of Rehab UK (our scottish service users didn't like the idea of saying they were 'off to rehab'. HA!
So as you can see... all very worthy! And it's funny that i'll be hurtling down the hill on skis in a big old fat santa suit.. I'm going to look HILLARIOUS!!! And there will be photos provided to you for your enjoyment and mocking afterwards...
So please give me a few quid if you can spare it... :)
Love to you all
Caro X
