My story

Well we finally jumped and it was AMAZING!! Complete and utter worthwhile experience!!  No sooner were we sat of the edge of the plane at over 10,000 feet the next we were plumiting from the sky at speeds of 120mph, then safely landing on the ground.  An experience we can't wait to acheive again! Were still on the fundraising mission, and every penny counts! Our aim is to raise as much as possible!

Unfortunately Samuel Roberts  had to postpone his Skydive due to bad weather and will be Skydiving in the near future (date yet to be arranged).

Multiple Sclerosis is a major neurological disease that mainly affects young adults, and is as yet incurable.

On July 12th 2009, Nyssa Smith and Hayley Stanton completed their Skydives for the first time from a height of 12,000ft reaching speeds of 120mph, in aid of The Merlin Project; a registered UK charity that exists to raise funds for the construction and running of the Cornwall Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre.

There are over 60 MS therapy centres in the UK, but until now, Cornwall hasn't had one despite having the highest number of people with MS in mainland Britain!

The Cornwall Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre will offer much needed support for those who are diagnosed with the disease, their carers and family. The centre aims to meet not only the basic needs of people with MS, but also the forgotten needs, that you and me take for granted for example, being able to style your hair and cut your nails! The centre will also be used carry out research into MS.

Within the centre there will be specialised equipment such as a High Dosage Oxygen chamber, an Aquatherapy Pool, a Gym and Physiotherapy equipment. There will be treatment rooms, so that complementary therapies may be provided, a salon, a sensory garden, an oasis bar, a conference room and a play area for children, who are rarely given enough support when their parents are diagnosed with MS.

People with MS often find their symptoms are helped by having High Dosage Oxygen treatment, a process by which pure oxygen is delivered at one and a half times atmospheric pressure to people in the HDO chamber for specified periods of time. They can also be helped from therapies like Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Homeopathy and Acupuncture.

The Merlin Project needs at least another £250,000 to complete the centre at Hewaswater, near St Austell.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Cornwall Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre Ltd gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us now!

We are paying for our Skydives ourselves, NOT taking it out of sponsor money, so all donations go straight to the Merlin Project.

Thank you!!
