Hello and thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am going to be doing a skydive for Skillshare International. To start off with I thought that this was a good idea but now I am scared to death and can't think why on earth I said I would jump!! Anyway, I'm committed so - onwards and upwards (when my parachute opens!!!)

The skydive was post-poned due to volcanic ash clouds and the jump has been re-scheduled to May 16th! Thanks very much for all of your support.

So here is why I am doing the rather mad skydive: I have always been passionate about poverty reduction, it has had an impact on my decisions and what I get involved with. However, never before has it brought me to a place where I am faced with an open door, 12,000ft of plain air and a belly full of butterflies ready for freefall.

So I am doing this for the women who trafficked against their will and are trying to rebuild their lives in Nepal and India, I am doing this for school children in Kenya who are at risk of disease because they do not have access to clean drinking water. I am doing this because I believe we can make a difference.

The organisation that I am jumping for, called Skillshare International, is working to reduce poverty, inequality and injustice in some of the poorest communities in Africa and Asia. They work with partners to empower individuals and transform lives and communities. They do this by sharing and developing skills and ideas and facilitating organisational and social change, basically they enable people to lift themselves out of poverty.

I believe that when people join together, we can make a difference! Therefore whatever you can give is great - and will go towards bringing about change in vulnerable communities.
