My story

Hey Everyone!

First of all, THANK YOU for clicking on the link to my Just Giving page, and to those of you who previously sponsored me earlier in September for the Great North Run, all your support has been greatly appreciated!

So now it’s the NEW YEAR and on April 17 2011, my Dad and I will be running in the Virgin London Marathon!

We were very lucky to receive Golden Bond Fundraising places this year. They are like gold dust! Every year there are more and more people wanting to raise money for numerous charities or running in memory of friends and family, for personal reasons or for fitness in general. Ours are all of these combined!

We have been given this opportunity to raise as much as we can for RAFT. Many people may not have heard of this smaller charity or know what they do….

“Around the world, the lives of hundreds of thousands of people are affected by skin disfiguring illnesses and damage such as burns, wounds, limb amputations and skin cancer. RAFT is here to help them.

RAFT stands for the Restoration of Appearance and Function Trust. We are an independent registered charity carrying out pioneering research into practical and affordable ways to save and repair skin.”

RAFT is closely linked with our family as we have donated large amounts of money over the past year since my Aunty Laila died on January 12th 2010 due to skin cancer, we are running in memory of Laila who completed 3 London Marathons herself along with my Mum and Dad. Running is in the family and this has inspired me to follow in their footsteps and raise money at the same time.

It wont be easy to raise such a big target, nor will the training which I have now begun with my Dad…

I know it will be made easier by the huge amount of support and help from all of you as most of you have shown so much loyality to us while Laila was poorly and since she died in January. Me and my family are so grateful for this and it has given us strength to do sporting events such as the Great North Run, Run For All Leeds 10k, Skin Foundation 4 Mile Walk, and a cricket match in memory of Laila. The London Marathon is by far our biggest challenge!

So please DIG DEEP, does not matter how small your donation is, every penny counts towards helping make someone’s life that little bit better!

THANK YOU SO MUCH.
