BRECON BEACONS HORSESHOE CHALLENGE AUGUST 22ND
The practice raised money for MNDA in memeory of David Lennox in 2008 by walking Mount Snowdon, this year we hope to raise funds by completing the Brecon Beacons Horsehoe - a 10 mile walk covering the 3 highest peaks of the Beacons!
This walk is one of the finest mountain walks in South Wales. A lenghty, gradual, steady ascending approach leads to the foot of Cribyn then the final climb to its summit (2608ft/795m) is steep and exhausting. A descent into a col is followed by another steep, though short, pull up to Pen Y Fan (2907ft/886m), the highest point in the Brecon Beacons and the highest point south of Snowdonia. A much gentler descent leads on to the distinctive flat summit of Corn Du (2863ft/873m). The return route drops down to the beautiful little lake of Llyn Cwm Llwch and this is followed by a relaxing stroll thorugh the lovely valley of Cwm Llwch.
