My story

London to Birmingham
The Grand Union Canal Towpath 145 mile sponsored walk
On 28th April 2012

A lengthy towpath walk connecting the two city centres, via Tring, Braunston, Warwick and much peaceful countryside. Sounds abit boring to me but I believe there are over 50 pubs along the walk so I may have to make a few stops. This will be over the week and means sleeping rough which I am not looking forward to.
I will be doing this for 2 charities

1. The Daniel Worrall Memorial Trust

This one is very close to my heart. Daniel was a friend of mine who was suddenly and tragically killed in a road accident. Daniel’s family and friends founded the Daniel Worrall Memorial Trust, a charity committed to providing facilities and equipment which enable and encourage young people, of all abilities, to participate in sport. If you have time please visit the website www.danielworrall.org

2. Katharine House Hospice

The Hospice building was completed in 1991 and today the specialist palliative care services offered include in patient, day hospice, community care at home, home night nursing, support for patients at the Horton General hospital, out-patients, lymphoedema treatment and bereavement support.

This isn’t the kind of thing I would do normally but this is the start of my training for the Big One in 2013.
People that know me know I’ve got a pretty big mouth and I like winding others up and this time it’s got me in trouble.

In 2011 Nigel Smilie (my dad) embarked on a challenge of a lifetime. To climb Mount Kilimanjaro. He ended up a few metres short of the of the world famous summit. I know he gave it 110% and that but it didn’t stop me from stirring it up.

"It couldn't have been that hard"
"I could run up that"
"hahaha"
etc

Well as my teachers told me "think before you speak".
He’s laid down the challenge and I’ve accepted it.........How hard can it be?

Thanks for taking the time to read this.
