Rob, Stu and Tim would like to welcome you to one of Lock Stock and One Smoking Tuk Tuk's JustGiving pages. The other ones can be found at www.justgiving.com/onesmokingtuk for Frank Water and at www.justgiving.com/lockstock for Dogs For The Disabled
As you found this page, we guess you know what we're doing and why we're doing it. If not, heres a quick summary......
We have signed up for the Rickshaw Run 2010 Spring Edition, which involves driving a Tuk Tuk 3000km from Cochin, in the South West of India to Gangtok in the Himalayas, in only 2 weeks!
One of the conditions of entry is that we raise at least £1000 for 2 charities that work very hard throughout India. Mercy Corps and Frank Water. This page is dedicated to Mercy Corps. Here's a little about what they can do with the money you give them. (Click Read More)
£5 will provide breeding services for an Indian farmer’s cow to increase milk production.
£10 buys enough seeds to last a farmers entire planting season
£20 is enough to give five farmers a six-month training on improved agricultural techniques
£25 is enough to support agricultural programs that help farmers plant and maintain plots and harvest fresh fruits and vegetables.
£45 will build a compost unit for a small organic farmer to increase income from vegetable and tea production
£100 will go towards the purchase of solar panels for a small farming business; this will reduce the burning of 45 cubic meters of wood.
£150 is enough to provide a treadle pump to a farmer to improve irrigation and increase yields
