3-peaks Challenge – WE DID IT!!!!
On 7th and 8th June 2008 6 walkers and 2 drivers completed the 3-peaks challenge in 22hrs and 54 mins. The walkers were Vickie O’Leary, Rachael Eldridge, Wayne Smith, Andrew Gould, Jon Orpen & Keith Powell, the drivers were Emily Powell and Heather Tout (now know as Aunty Heather).
We left Southampton on Friday at 2.30pm and finally arrived back on Sunday 10.45pm, with a few extra blisters, dodgy knees and some very funny walks. Within the 24 hours we visited Wales, Cumbria and Scotland, climbing Snowdon, Scafell Pike and finishing with Ben Nevis and experiencing all weathers, with beautiful sunshine on Snowdon and Scafell Pike and sunshine, rain, wind and snow on Ben Nevis.
It was a great weekend for both walkers and drivers and we showed real Team spirit. Everyone worked as a team, all helping each other out, staying together on the mountains, sharing provisions and even applying plasters to weary (and a bit smelly) feet!
The team would like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who supported and sponsored us. We have raised in excess of £2,200 (excluding gift aid), which is fantastic.
It was a great experience for all who took part and we have gone from “NEVER AGAIN!” on Sunday to “think how quick we could do it if we trained” on Tuesday morning. So whether you are a walker or driver, don’t miss out on this great experience and maybe see you again next year!
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.
