My story

DONATIONS ENDING 12PM FRIDAY AUGUST 12th

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT. SEE BELOW FOR WHAT NEXT!

Mad4africa kindly hosted this page to raise awareness and  help ashraf get the support he needed.

Over the last couple of days the fine people of London, the UK and the world have visited this site to demonstrate that this kind of thing didn’t happen in their name. Support has been immense. In just a few days over £20k has been raised. More and more is coming in all the time and that figure will grow. Staggering. Not least because most people are a bit strapped at the moment. A cracking effort from everyone. If the objective of all of this was to be able to do something nice for Ashraf then it’s a case of mission accomplished so donations for Ashraf on this site will close at noon (BST) on Friday 12th August. If you know anyone who wants to donate then tell them to get a move on and do it before then.

The money will then be locked and held until Ashraf himself has inputted into how he would like it to be used. After all he knows best what would be nice for him. (Any constructive thoughts on this approach should go to @jamiecowen and @EsWilkies )

So what next? All the support for Ashraf has been fantastic but there were loads of other people affected by the riots and they need help, too. We will be posting links to sites supporting other people who you could do something nice for. Check them out and give them some support if you want to/can. To be clear: if you donate on this page, it will only go to Ashraf not the other causes. Hope that makes sense.

Well done everybody. @jamiecowen @EsWilkies #somethingniceforashraf
