Songs

Songs4Haiti started out as an idea for using one original song to raise money to help the people of Haiti after the catastrophic earthquake on 12th January, 2010. Three weeks later it was time to launch the appeal, and that one song had increased to 37 songs. Songs continue to come in and be added to the website - we're now nearly up to 50 songs. Join the Songs4Haiti Facebook group and receive notification whenever a song is added.

The songs have been generously donated by artists from Guernsey, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, Finland, Norway, Portugal and other countries from around the world. We have African Fusion from a band formed by a platinum record producer and musician. There is Uplifting Trance from an artist recently signed to a partner of Ministry of Sound. Hip Hop collective Asylum Seekas provide lyrical twists and turns. There is stomping up-tempo jazz from a band whose album was mixed and cut in London's famous Abbey Road studios. There is Rap from an 8 year old Canadian whose song has already raised a substantial amount for Haiti in its own right. There is thoughtful acoustic pop/jazz from Dave Fuller, classic Rock from Nemesis. Pop, ballads, ambient chillout, metal, acoustic blues, instrumentals, and many other styles and genres.

IAHV

The International Association for Human Values (IAHV), in conjunction with sister organisation The Art of Living Foundation, has 27 years experience working in 140 countries, and is already established in Haiti: For the last 2 years they have provided youth leadership skills, sustainable agriculture, entrepreneurship skills, and stress and anger management courses to 350 young adults from 5 regions of Haiti.

Following the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti in January, IAHV have been helping the people of Haiti by sending volunteers and vital aid supplies, but their focus is very much on the long term aid: food-security and infrastructure reconstruction.

100 young Haitian adults will be trained by Haitian and international experts, and will serve their country for 2 years.

They will be trained as community educators, project organisers, workers with the skills to implement small scale home and community gardens. They will lead their communities to create appropriate infrastructure for clean water, sanitation and safe building construction. The local population will be empowered to produce their own food, clean water and housing.

Trauma relief is an essential part of this programme. For 2 years IAHV will deliver trauma relief in refugee camps, towns and villages throughout Haiti, in partnership with local and international aid organisations.

Your donation will contribute to this multifaceted approach.
