As I'm fast approaching (and will by the time of the event have passed) 30 years on this piece of rock we call home I wanted to do something to prove that I'm not old. I may well fail, but if I do it will not be for lack of trying.
I was just going to do the run, and that be it however I recently lost my Grandfather, and so it seems apt that I should do this in his memory. Granda suffered towards the end of his life with Alzheimers, and I personally found it heartbreaking to see the great man that he was disappear over time. Make no bones about it, Alzheimers is a terrible condition which affects one in 14 people over the age of 65, rising to one in 6 at the age of 80. UPDATE - 23.4.09 - Thanks to everyone who has donated so far, your generosity is overwhelming. As I've already smashed my initial target I'm going to bump it to £500 and see how we do as time goes on. Who knows, we might even make it to £1000 :)
UPDATE - 03.08.09 - Yesterday was the big day and not only did I finish, I smashed my target time of 1 hour 20 mins, finishing in 58 mins and 4 seconds. Many, many thanks to everyone for donating and pushing me on.
