Vidyanikethan has worked tirelessly over the last 20 years to improve the lives and livelihoods of individuals and families, especially children and women, from low income groups and from the vulnerable, marginalised and under-developed sections of the society in Bangalore, India.

It's children like Arun, that Vidyanikethan support. When you meet the cheeky 8 year-old, he's like any other boy - full of energy and always up to something! But what you don't know is the difficulties that he and his family face. As a single parent, his mother, Manjula, works as a domestic worker in order to support the family. Her income is just £25 a month. With that she's supporting not only Arun and herself but also her disabled son. With such a small income, it's difficult to pay for Arun's school fees so it's always a choice between food and school. Food will always win. But thanks to Vidyanikethan's sponsor a child scheme, Arun is able to have a future. With support from people like you, he's able to go to school like any other boy his age and make his mother proud. And who knows - next time we meet Arun, maybe he'll be working in India's Sillicon Valley!
