Some people chuck themselves out of planes. Others trek deep into the Amazonian jungles or traverse Asia in a clapped-out rickshaw.
Doing something personally challenging and or terrifying to raise money for charity is a great British tradition, which I've chosen to follow in by facing up to one of my biggest fears... Cleaning!
You saw the tip that was my student room in Cambridge. Some of you saw the sequel in my flat in Istanbul last year. Now watch the World's Messiest Girl don plastic gloves and an apron to.... erm, clean stuff!*
From September 26th-Oct 1st I will be availing my cleaning services on behalf of CINI UK - you can book a cleaning sesh in exchange for a donation to the charity. For 'bookings' contact sophiaf007@hotmail.com. Or if you don't need a house call then please dig deep to sponsor me to undertake the challenge of cleaning up after other people!
CINI is an Indian-run charity that does fantastic work providing emergency relief for victims of malnutrition in India and working to promote awareness of good sanitation and nutrition practices. CINI uses local staff and volunteers, which keeps its overheads down, and is widely respected in the region for its expertise on mother and child malnutrition issues (CINI has provided training for CARE, UNICEF and CRY)
Your money goes a long way in India. Just £300 is enough to pay the salary of a trained healthworker for 6 months, while £50 pays for the food to nurse 15 severely malnourished infants back to health in CINI's emergency ward. Thanks to the support of you lovely people we already have £66.80 (which comes from dontaions for an event which had to be postponed http://www.justgiving.com/furbersfastsforcini). Further donations to this fantastic cause would be hugely appreciated!
