Why your donation matters

Any donation we receive is instrumental in helping us to deliver our successful one-to-one tuition and mentoring programme to children facing extreme disadvantage, giving them the essential literacy skills they need to succeed in life.

Springboard for Children works in 15 schools in London and Manchester teaching over 350 children a year who struggle with the task of learning to read and write. Our multi-sensory sessions equip these children with the skills to unlock literacy and have the confidence to learn and fulfil their potential.

Case study: donations in action

Before Benny started at Springboard he frequently got into trouble in class and his motivation to learn was low. The only books he had access to were the ones he brought home from school.

Benny was referred to Springboard because he struggled with reading and writing, however through regular one-to-one tuition and mentoring from his tutor Benny is learning to break words down and put them back together again, even making sound cards for tricky phonics. Benny’s proudest moment was when he split up and put back together the word hippopotamus and then read it to his tutor. This year, Benny’s class teacher reports that his motivation, attitude and confidence have rocketed; they put this completely down, to the dedication of his Springboard tutor.
