On 19th May 2007 I will be taking part in Macmillan's Peru Hiking challenge. It promises to be an extremely testing physical challenge. The event and the months of preparation will be tough. But I shall be doing it in memory of a very special lady 'Mary Josephine' who shone for everyone who met her. Josie was diagnosed with cancer last year and I saw first hand the excellent care that Macmillan provided. Sadly she passed away but will still hold a very special place in the hearts of all who knew her.
I have to raise a minimum of £3,000 to be able to take part in the event. I hope to raise much more than this and hope you will consider sponsoring me in my challenge, which I am aware is a very minor one compared with the challenge that cancer patients face each day.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Macmillan Cancer Support will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now! If you know of anyone else who would be interested in sponsoring me, please pass on details of my web page
December update!
I’ve almost made it to my minimum target of £3000, thanks to everyone who's helped and those of you who still have yet to get around to it!
I'm really excited because I can now believe that I'm actually going to be able to take part in the challenge. This has long been an ambition of mine.
A great big THANK YOU and hope you all have a great Christmas
Think I'd better start my training now!
January update!
Another big thank to you all for getting me to the £3000 mark, couldn't have done it without you! A special thank you to the staff at Larkhill Garrison, they raised over £100 by having a MUFTI day and staff at BUPA Portsmouth who donated over £150, when we held a cake and craft sale! (Obviously with my domestic skills I didn't actually make anything) BUPA head office have promised to match that amount as well! Just keep it coming folks, I know Macmillan appreciate every last penny!
February!
Training really hard now. Out walking most days, some days are easier than others...today was disasterous....Managed to get lost, then lose my map somewhere along the way (not that it was doing me any good), lost my scarf, yogurt carton split in ruck sack and spilled drink all down myself. But managed to cover 5 miles
Sponsorship seems to have slowed down now, shall have to get out and rattle my collection box ;o)
Tanya and Martin, thanks you two for getting things moving again....special thanks to your friends and colleagues who don't even know me, but have sponsored me!
April!
Not long now! Have just spent 4 days walking on Dartmoor, could barely walk at the end....God I ache absolutely everywhere but I did it, which of course is the main thing. Still excited about challenge but do have some concerns about my agility now! Especially after having to be rescued, by a complete stranger, after being stranded on some stepping stones in the middle of the river!!!! Please tell me there are no stepping stones on the Inca trail!
