Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I will be trekking the Great Wall of China from 17-25 September 2010 to raise money in aid of our local Hospice. St Clare Hospice provides care for people with cancer and life-limiting illnesses. If you are visiting my page for the first time, thank you. A huge thank you to St Mary's Church Loughton, family, colleagues at the RCN and friends for coming to our "Bring adn Buy" on Saturday 10 July. The self less contribution of your time, effort, generous donation of gift items is very much appreciated. The event has helped our fund raising activities in many ways.
For family, colleagues and friends who have sponsored me so far, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your thoughtfulness and donation. I don't take for granted your kind words of encouragement. I appreciate you for your humanity, generosity and support. Personally this mean a lot to me and to St Clare Hospice.
It costs in excess of £2.5 million each year for St Clare Hospice to continue its valuable work and to provide a service that meets the changing needs of local community. The Hospice is 30% funded by the NHS and relies on charitable donations to keep running.
St Clare Hospice have been providing dedicated care to people and their families since May 1990. So, 2010 is a special year and occasion for the Hospice as it celebrate "20 years of care" for people. For more information please go to; http://www.stclarehospice.org.uk
The Great Wall of China challenge involves roughly six hours of trek a day and 5 consecutive days of tough trekking up and down hill, over rocky terrain, past small rock-pools, uphill through heavy undergrowth. The Trek will follow a route rarely visited by foreigners and well beyond the regular tourist trail. The main challenge is to negotiate more than 1200 steps with some very steep sections and sheer drops.
