My story

My daughter Daisy has a rare, life-limiting,  genetic condition called Costello Syndrome, if this wasn't enough when she was three she went into intestinal failure and has subsequently developed neuropathic bladder.  She receives all her nutrition and most of her medications directly into her bloodstream via a central venous catheter (hickman line) and is hooked up to an IV drip for over 17 hours a day. She has endured countless operations and procedures and has spent more than half her life in hospital.  Life is a challenge for Daisy but she faces it head on, with the biggest smile, she is determined to life life to the full - she is an inspiration to everyone who meets her!  As a family we were taken on a white knuckle ride from the moment Daisy was born, but when she was 6 months old we were thrown a lifeline in the form of our wonderful hospice, Shooting Star Chase.  They support families of children who are not expected to life to adulthood, they have been with us every step of our journey with Daisy.

The care and support they provide us costs the taxpayer or our health authority nothing and yet they receive no guaranteed government funding, all their funding comes from voluntary sources.  The service they provide is essential for families like ours.

Last year I set myself the challenge to run 7 races to mark 7 years of care by Shooting Star-Chase for our family - I completed it in November and raised over £1,000.  I enjoyed running so much I decided to enter the London Marathon this year and take my challenge to a new level!  I want to raise an additional £500 ontop of my original target.  You can follow my progress on my online race diary at

Please help me support the place that gives our family so much support!
