Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Well we managed it ! the girls in an easier way than I did. I did run out of oxygen on one of the hills and had to take a few minutes to recover. It was a good day though and I am glad to have taken part. Mainly as I was so overwhelmed by all the kind words & generous donations to this worthy cause, words hardly cover my gratitude for the support you all gave us, it made me determined to take part in spite of the limitations to my health. It also reminded me of how much I enjoy riding my bike, health allowing I will try to continue riding my bike & enjoying the beautiful country-side. Also after looking at the photo's I need to get rid of the 'spare tyre' as you only need 2 on a bike !
Thank you all from all of us.
Having been diagnosed with Myeloma cancer in May 2014 and having been told I have plateaued with the Chemotherapy this week [9th March] it is looking more than likely I will not qualify for a Stem cell transplant. [Which it was hoped would give me a 2-3 year life extension] . As I have had too many infections having spent a total of nearly 7 weeks in total in hospital as well during this time. Also the protein level in my bloods , that they use to measure the depth of the cancer, has not decreased sufficiently [in the last 3 blood test's] either. So I am waiting to see what the next treatment regime will be.
I have decided to do something that will help myself & other cancer sufferers that the hospice provide help in many ways, while I still can, as they have been very supportive of me & Liz during this difficult time.
My best wishes & thanks to al,l and I appreciate any contribution you should be able to make.
Steve.
