Story
2009 is a 'landmark' year for me (40) and so I have decided to run my first ever marathon. I am doing this for The West of MS Therapy Centre, which is based in Nailsea, and which this year is the HP Bristol official Site Charity.
Here's what the Centre say about themselves:
"The Centre was set up in 1985 to start offering oxygen therapy and support to local people with Multiple Sclerosis. Today the Centre offers a wide range of therapies for people with MS including, Physiotherapy, Oxygen Therapy, Counselling, Acupuncture, Reflexology and Aromatherapy. The Centre currently supports 300 people from the Greater Bristol Area on a long-term basis. The Centre itself helps not only people with MS, but also their carers and supporters. The Centre also offers practical advice from nutrition to claiming benefits.
The West of MS Therapy Centre offers these therapies for donation rates and does not turn people away based on their ability to pay. In total the Centre currently needs to raise in excess of £200,000 per year to keep running.
The West of MS Therapy Centre does not receive any statutory funding and all the money raised comes from voluntary donations."
In a very exciting recent development, I hear that the Centre has negotiated with South Glos council to obtain a new site at Bradley Stoke and they are planning to start building a brand new centre there from 2010.
With all this going on, how can you resist?
Justgiving adds:
"Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The West of England MS Therapy Centre gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation."
Thanks!
Steve
