Brathay 10 Marathons in 10 Days Challenge This was one of the most memorable experiences in mine and Teresa's entire lives and it will live in our memories forever. We would like to thank the Brathay team for giving us the opportunity to repeat this incredible journey and making this the incredible success that it was. I would also like to give a heart warming thank you to each and every one of the 10 in 10 runners, you were all magnificent. Your strength and determination to battle through injuries and keep going inspired me to push myself harder. This was a massive team effort and I know I couldn't have done it without you. Thanks also to Amy and John from Active Physio for their medical support, they did a fantastic job in making sure we were able to keep running every day. Also, thanks to Robin of team Nutrition for supplying us with the right drinks to keep us hydrated and fueled over the 10 days, so important, especially on the early days when it was really warm. Also, thanks to Pete Bland Sports and Asics for supplying kit for all the runners. Last but certainly not least, I would like to thank my wife Teresa for not only supporting and being there for me throughout this challenge but also throughout my running career, she is my No 1 fan and I love her to bits, I couldn't have done this without her support. This was a massive team effort by one and all, thank you all again so much for this life changing experience! See www.brathaychallenge.com for the full story. New World Record Aggregate Time - 35 hrs 20 min 44 sec Average Time For Each Marathon - 3 hrs 32 min 04 sec Average Time For Each Mile (of the 262) - 8 min 5 Sec Can I also say thank you to all those who have sponsored me including my family, relatives, friends, work colleagues, running clubs and also the corporate donations I've had from Environmental Services Group Ltd Central Presentations Ltd Carvers Building Supplies Ltd Thank you so much for helping me raise money for Brathay. ************************************************** "The marathon is widely known as the ultimate test of athletic endurance, 26.2 miles of continuous running, a gruelling and punishing event that tests the limits of one's resolve to overcome pain and fear with sheer guts and determination." Running one marathon is hard enough, however, this year, I will be attempting to set a new world record for running the fastest aggregate time for 10 marathons in 10 days on an accurately measured UK Athletics certified marathon course. The challenging 26.2 mile route follows a complete circuit of Lake Windermere, (England's largest lake) which boasts many hills! Therefore, running it 10 times in succession equates to a total of 262 exhausting miles in all. The Brathay 10 Marathons in 10 Days Challenge take's place in May 2008 where myself along with just 10 other brave athletes will attempt to complete an event that will not only be a stern test of physical, but also mental endurance.
