Story
To be perfectly honest I had no intention of running the marathon for the ERM Foundation – I was originally doing this purely for personal reasons to raise money for Epilepsy Action (and if you would like to sponsor me for that reason then they and I would extremely grateful – see my other page on justgiving.com!). However, Robin can be very persuasive and after both he, Pete and John, offered to sponsor me generously (!) if I were to run for the Foundation, I figured I could run for both.
At the same time, this coincides with a kind of re-launch of the Foundation, where we are trying to create a truly global mechanism to give us all the opportunity to apply our skills to ‘more significant’ projects which will make a real difference to the livelihoods and/or the environment on an even greater scale than we have achieved so far. We only need to raise £20k and we can undertake a project which makes a significant difference to the lives of people and their impact on the environment - one possibility is helping communities to use marine resources sustainably in order to preserve reef systems in Mozambique.
So there we are, the only thing I have to do now is run it – so sponsor me generously and we can make a real difference!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: ERM Foundation will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
Steve
