My story is in 2 parts and it will only take 5 minutes of your time to read - firstly thank you for visiting my page and please dig deep, together we can make a real difference.

As part of my mid life crisis I starting doing triathlons last year. This led to me setting myself the ultimate goal of competing in an Iron Man race in Nice on 27th June 2010. To spur me on and to make the effort worthwhile I have decided to raise money for Brainwave.

Who Are Brainwave

Brainwave is a registered Children's Charity providing therapy for babies and children who have been given a diagnosis of Autism or Developmental Delay and for children who have a brain injury like Cerebral Palsy or a chromosomal abnormality such as Down's Syndrome.

Brainwave was established in 1982. It provides home based programmes of rehabilitation. Families stay at the Centre, whilst the child is fully assessed. Exercises are prescribed which are taught to the parents. Children are reassessed at intervals of six months.

 So What Am I Doing ?

Along with 21 other Bedford Harriers I will be taking part in this race.

What Is An Iron Man

Many experts belive that an Iron Man is one of the most physical one day challanges out there.  It involves a 2.4 mile swim, followed by 112 miles on a bike, finishing with a 26.2 mile run.  It has to be completed in a maximum of 16 and a half hours with no breaks!  I have been training for this for 6 months, losing 2 stones in the process and not seeing my family at weekends.  While I can do the 3 events individually, I've not put them together at this distance. Knowing I have your support will give me heart and will get me over the finish line.
