Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
This is now my fourth year running a 10K for charity and you have helped me to raise over £3k for Cancer Research - Thank you!
In 2004 at the ripe young age of 55 my Mum was diagnosed with hay fever or at least that's what the first doctor thought. Several visits later and on 31st August 2004 she was diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma (MCL) a rare form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Following several courses of Chemo she eventually went into remission on 4th April 2005, however on 1st August 2006 she was diagnosed with MCL again.
Several more courses of Chemo later she was given a Stem Cell transplant resulting in her going into remission for the 2nd time on 17th April 2007. She still has regular check-ups and she has been clear ever since.
Hence the reason that I set myself a goal to complete a 10k (at least) run every year, with the aim of raising a minimum of £1,000 each time - her treatment alone was in the region of £100k!.
We're the lucky ones, my Mum probably wouldn't be around if it wasn't for the amazing work that the doctors and research agencies do but obviously this all comes at a cost so please, please dig deep and sponsor me.
Donating online through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
Steven
PS My company HSBC will match my sponsorship (pound for pound) up to £500!
