Hey guys, thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, where I'm hoping to raise £200 for Catch22, a charity which helps disadvantaged young people all over the country (click the link on the left for more on them).
So what am I doing? I've decided to drag myself round the the Royal Parks half marathon (all 13.1 miles of it) on 11th October 2009, which starts and finishes in Hyde Park. Many of you may know that I shattered my ankle to pieces last year while playing football, so was completely out of action for 4 months, and now have a metal plate and six pins stuck in there holding it all together. Since then it's been a real struggle to get back to fitness, with all sorts of smaller injuries arising from running awkwardly after recovering. Still, despite all that, I finally have two fully-functioning legs back, I've been training really, really hard and I'm determined to run the whole course and even break my current PB for a half marathon of 1hr 48 minutes.
I would really appreciate it if you could donate what you can, not just for me but for all the young people who benefit from Catch22's work each year.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. The money goes straight to Catch22 and they can reclaim Gift Aid on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
If you can't afford to donate, but can get to Hyde Park on 11th October, it would be great to see some familiar faces supporting all the runners along the way. It makes such a massive difference, even though we might not look like we appreciate it at the time!
All the best,
Steve
