Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.
St Monica's in Wivenhoe is a thriving Catholic church communty that has a growing congregation. In 1967, a temporary structure was built to house the church for a period that was supposed to be 3 years. We celebrated our silver jubilee and our 40th anniversary in the same building. With your help our Golden jubilee will see us more appropriately housed in a church with appropriate facilites including disabled access, a communal area and an appropiate confessional.
Why now?
The nominal capacity of the church is 80 people. Our regular weekly attendance is now 50% above this capacity which means people standing at the back at every Sunday mass. On special occassions there are people standing outside.
if you’re a UK taxpayer, Brentwood Roman Catholic Diocesan Trust (the Trust that supports the catholic community in the diocese of Brentwood which includes St Monica's) will get your GiftAid. Any donations will be earmarked for the Church rebuild/rennovations.
