Dear Friends & Family,
As some of you already know, I am getting ready for one of the biggest challenges of my life. I will be trekking to Stok Kangri peak (6153m/20182ft) in the Indian Himalayas. It's a 15-day trip starting from the 18th of August. It's an exciting journey from Delhi to Stok Kangri and back with visits to monasteries in Leh on the way.
This trek is important to me, not merely for the physical challenge, but also my commitment to raise funds for The Akanksha Foundation. Akanksha is engaged in transforming the education system by building a high-performing municipal school model, that redefines what is possible for children from some of the poorest slum communities in Pune and Mumbai.
Meaningful and quality education is the key to solving many more problems that slum communities in India's cities face today. Funding for a movement to redefine the system is essential. I have set a personal goal to raise funds for the Abhyudaya Nagar Municipal School in Mumbai. The school currently runs with about 160 children from lower KG to standard 2. You could join me in this effort by supporting some of the costs incurred in the children’s education.
Rs. 18000 (GBP 225) covers the complete cost of a child for an year
Rs. 10000 (GBP 125) covers the cost of stationary and supplies for an entire class
Rs. 4000 (GBP 50) covers medical expenses for an entire class
As I work on the 20182ft climb, you will be with me in spirit, and your support towards the cause will inspire me to walk stronger and faster towards my goal. Your contribution would bring us all one step closer to making education not a privilege of a few but a right for every Indian child.
Thank you so much for your support and generosity!
Thanks and regards,
Som.
