Story

Thank you for, once again, visiting our fundraising page.

On 18 September 2005, Bill and I put our bodies to the test in order to raise funds for Cancer Research UK, in memory of our dear sister Hazel, who passed away in September 2004, almost exactly a year earlier.

You can see from the attached image that we did make it round, thats us in the blue and pink at the bottom of the picture. Bill and I found it hard going in the heat but we kept each other going throughout. The displayed finishing time is slightly misleading, as we took 22 minutes to get across the start line. Nevertheless, three hours is still a long time....

The jury is out on whether to do it again next year. Perhaps there is the incentive to get round a bit faster. Who knows.

Most importantly though, thanks to all of you for the fantastic support shown to us both, before, during and after the race. The grid below shows donations of £2,986, however Bill and I have collected additional cheques to the tune of £1,143. A grand total of £4,129. Truly astounding, and for a really good cause. Thank you so much for your support. I know Hazel would not just be proud of Bill and I, but also of everyone who gave so generously. Steve & Bill Stothart
