We are primarily engaged in offering essential support through the provision of hot meals, clothes and blankets ‘on the street’ and in churches. And in partnership with ‘English Churches Housing Group/King George Hostel’, our Night Drop-in Centre was opened in October last year, and provides hot food in addition to peer-support, referral and advocacy service. Expansion in this area is of particular significance in the light of the absence of any such help during the evening hours when day-centres are closed. This is our current development plan, to have the drop-in centre open two and not just one evening per week which will enable Streetlytes to bring a 100 homeless off the streets per month into a community based setting. In partnership with Astell Foundation we have housed eight homeless into independent living accomodation with aftercare follow-up.
Although abstinence-based, our on-site peer support embraces both harm minimisation and complete abstinence in relation to drug and alcohol issues where the beneficiaries from both Streetlytes and King George’s hostel can meet and share their experience, strength, struggles and desired goals In relation to alcohol and drug addiction and recovery. Your donations will help us continue to make a difference in the lives of the homeless.
