Update.... we completed the challenge in 22 hours 30 minutes!!

A massive thank you to everyone who has very generously donated so far!!

Its not too late to still donate!!. Please help if you can.

We started the challenge on 2nd July 2010 at 18:30 from Glen Nevis Youth Hostel in extremely tough weather - 60 mph winds, driving rain and very low cloud and mist. Not an ideal start, but we soldiered on and depsite being very wet and cold, finished the walk in around 4 hours and 20 mins.

A difficult overnight drive to Seathwaite in the rain and with virtually no sleep left us starting the walk up to Scafell Pike in early morning darkness. After leaving the very cloudy summit and spending a little time helping a lost "3 peak" group find their way back to Wasdale, we eventually got down with increasingly aching knees and completed the second mountain in around 4 hours 40 mins.

Despite long traffic delays on the A55 on the drive to Snowdon, we knew we had a little time in reserve saved from the previous 2 mountains to complete the final leg. Unfortunately, a warm saturday afternoon proved to be a popular draw for many other people wanting to enjoy Snowdon's slopes. Dodging the hoards we ascended the mountain via the Pyg track and decended by the Miners track to reach the car park at 17:00 and complete the challenge in a very respectable 22 hours and 30 mins.

We are suffering with with lots of aching muscles, tireda and fatigued bodies, but all the pain and hard work was worth it to help raise money for St Rocco's Hospice.

A lot of thanks must go to Rob who drove nearly 1000 miles in total and had to put up with us over the journey - a fantastic achievement in itself!!

Dont forget - its not too late to donate!!

We three amigos are going to attempt the three peaks challenge on the weekend of the 2 July 2010, in aid of St Rocco’s Hospice, Warrington. St. Rocco’s Hospice has been established in Warrington for 25 years and provides specialist care for patients with cancer and other life threatening illnesses. Their aim is to help everyone have the best quality of life by providing care and support in a friendly, relaxed environment.

On a personal level, St Rocco's provided fantastic care and support to Ste's mum during her last days in 2008.

For those of you who don’t know, the three peaks challenge is to attempt to climb the three highest mountain peaks in the UK in 24 hours: Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.

We have been training very hard, and some of us have even given up the beer – well nearly!! No small sacrifice it has to be said. We have dedicated many weekends of extremely early get-ups and gruelling walks, when being on the golf course would have been much more preferable.
