Rainbows Children's Hospice - Great Nottinghamshire Bike Ride · 22 June 2008 ·

As the East Midlands’ only hospice for children and young people, we brighten the short lives of babies, children and young people who come to Rainbows. We want them to have fun and make special memories. We are also here to support their loved ones through the most difficult times of their lives.

Story

On the 22nd June I'm going to be taking part in a 50 mile bike ride from Nottingham to Newalk.  The ride will take me through a number of lovely villages throughout Nottinghamshire and should be great fun (in addition to being blooming hard - and did I mention it was 50 miles!!!).  This is the first time i've ever taken part in the Great Notts Bike Ride (and the first time i've attempted 50 miles!).

I'm hoping it will take me around 4 hours to complete with my trusty stead (a bike more suited to the mountains than the roads but we'll keep each other company).  I'll have a bag packed with water and energy bars to help me through the pain barrier(s).

I decided to take the challenge for a couple of reasons.  Firstly because i'm a little mad and enjoy challenges.   Secondly, after becoming a dad 2 years ago I now appreciate the more important things, such as family time so the opportunity to get on my bike and raise some money for children who maybe aren't as fortunate is great.

The money raised is going to a fantastic cause and your support is very much appreciated.  Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
